* - While this is a large age range and merely an estimation, given the alien nature of many of the races of the Mass Effect universe, many species live past a thousand years old, while some are significantly shorter (like Humans and Salarians). I surmised this age from the following information: as Krogan live to be almost a thousand, their "coming of age" would probably be around 100 - 150 years old. He likely took his rite around the age of 100, being one of the few Krogan to actually kill a Thresher Maw on his own. He later moved on to become the leader of a small clan, before he was forced out by his own father after a fight regarding the genophage and the fallout from the Krogan Rebellions. This would put him at around 150 to 200 years old at the time. (If he didn't fight in said rebellions.)
Three hundred years pass before the events of the first Mass Effect take place, putting him at around 400 to 500 years old, give or take a few years (or decades). He's referred to as an "aging warrior," it's likely that he's in the prime of his life and still has many years left on him. I would estimate his age range to be anywhere from 500 - 800 years old, probably toward the middle or end of the spectrum.
But don't quote me on that! Some people think he's around 1400. It's never explicitly stated. Is "old as balls" a satisfactory answer?

CANON POINT: Post-ME2, after the Collector Base (though he is only a minor player in the second game)
AGE: Though not explicitly stated within the Mass Effect series, it can be implied that Wrex is anywhere from 500 to 800 years old*
APPEARANCE: Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3; the wikia page on Krogan (for biological reference)
PERSONALITY:
Krogan are infamous throughout the Mass Effect universe as well as Council Space for being brash, blunt, bloodthirsty, and unyielding. Though they were forced through evolution and revolution in order to fight in the Rachni Wars, the resulting Krogan Rebellion that followed earned them a manufactured genophage and an ill repute across the galaxies. Due to their "blood raged" nature, many Krogan employ themselves as mercenaries and are generally thought of as such; they're only good for their skill with a gun.
Urdnot Wrex, a famed mercenary himself, as well as one of the last Krogan Battlemasters, is, at first glance, like almost every other Krogan, fitting the bill for the special "stereotype" they're infamous for. If treated like a typical Krogan merc by Commander Shepard, that is really all he is. Underneath that hardened exterior, however, is something else entirely.
Wrex had once been a hopeful Krogan with high ideals and hopes for his people. While most were out for blood in the wake of the Krogan Rebellions, Wrex had other ideas; ones involving a new beginning for his people. He attempted to rally his tribe around efforts of breeding: something that the genophage made near impossible (as only one in every thousand pregnancies was viable). While other clans began to rally around his efforts, his father, Warlord Jarrod, had other ideas. After having to kill his own father at the Hollows, Wrex realized that the Krogan weren't interested in moving forward and chose to cling to bad blood instead.
The harsh reality stung and left a bitter taste in his mouth; one that he wasn't likely to forget. He close the life of a mercenary instead and left Tuchanka.
Despite turning his back on the Krogan, Wrex still holds onto the idea of a future for his people, despite not acting upon it. Though he denies it, his preoccupation with the genophage makes it clear that he still hasn't forgotten the plight of his people. This issue reaches a boiling point on the planet Virire, where Wrex confronts Commander Shepard after learning that Saren had found a "cure" for the genophage in order to breed a Krogan army. His first instinct was to shoot and then to hope, but after a verbal smackdown from Shepard, he came to the slow realization that an indoctrinated race of Krogan was not what he wanted for his people. It was with reluctance that he placed his trust in Commander Shepard's hands and destroyed the base with a renewed hatred for Saren.
Commander Shepard and Virmire reopened Wrex's eyes to the suffering of his people. After destroying Sovreign and saving the Council, Wrex took leave from Shepard's squad and the Normandy to return to Tuchanka to resume his duties as clan leader. He united the clan underneath one banner in an effort to realize his plans regarding the genophage and repopulation; the same ideals that almost got him killed three hundred years ago. Though some were wary, most clans took to the idea and he arranged a successful system in order to help procreation and minimalize stillbirths, while also protecting the females on neutral ground.
Wrex is, above all, a Krogan, but he is described as not being like the others, which he begrudgingly accepts as a compliment. Though ruthless in battle, he exhibits the traits that the Krogan once valued: courage, strength, and honour. The Rachni Wars and Krogan Rebellions saw the destruction of these morals, but they were something that an "aged warrior" like himself still holds onto.
For as long as he's been around, Wrex has seen it all. His experiences on Tuchanka and as a mercenary shaped who he is, but have also left him grounded and jaded. With age comes wisdom, they say. He may not be the wisest of them all, but he's been around the block a few times. Wrex is blunt, straightforward, and to the point - and people tend to listen. He can take charge and get people moving, but he isn't afraid to take direction from those he respects (like Commander Shepard) or assist in Team Effort (the crew of the Normandy - though he prefers to work alone or in small groups).
For a Krogan, he's also incredibly levelheaded, and rarely uses his temper. He prefers to get his way through intimidation, which, given his size and reputation, works very well for him. Just the threat of seeing him angry is enough to light a fire under the ass of the most hardened man in the galaxy. For all of his dry and stoic nature, however, he isn't lacking in humor either. He prefers to get his laughs through intimidation as well; seeing someone quake under his gaze never fails to amuse him, and he isn't above goading the other members of the Normandy.
Though he prefers to work alone (or once preferred - before returning to Tuchanka), he has a lot of respect for those who've earned it in his eyes. Through their time together fighting Saren and Sovreign, Wrex has come to respect the other crew members of the Normandy; uniting under a common cause tends to have that effect. Each person has their own strengths, and he can respect them for that (even Garrus Vakarian, whom he befriended despite the bad blood between the Krogan and the Turians). Commander Shepard earned his respect through her fierce disposition and natural leadership, and aided him in reawakening his ambitions to help his people. He respects her as a warrior, and has come to consider her one of his closest friends.
In the end, Wrex is an aged and weathered Krogan warlord who's seen it all and fought it all. He's returned with a sense of renewed purpose since meeting Commander Shepard, and has focused his efforts in aiding his people. Though he doesn't go looking for many fights, the best ones always seem to find him (or Shepard first).
ABILITIES:
Wrex is one of the last Krogan Battlemasters, a type of Krogan warrior who possesses powerful biotic abilities used in tandem with powerful weaponry. While proficient with many weapons, he prefers the assault rifle and shotgun. According to the Mass Effect codex, one Krogan Battlemaster is "a match for at least ten soldiers of another species." To Krogan, and Battlemasters especially, killing is a science, to be perfected through development of "a clean, brute-force economy of motion that exploits their brute strength to incapacitate enemies with a swift blow of overwhelming power."
Battlemasters lack the honor of most soldiers, however, and are not above comitting genocide or taking hostages if it means minimal Krogan casualties. They are brutal and use any means necessary to achieve their goals; the ends always justify the means.
A few of Wrex's abilities include:Biotic power: Stasis - throws a target into a temporary mass effect field, freezing them in place and making them unable to attack Biotic power: Throw - uses biotic abilities to launch the target away or knock them back, typically up against a wall, disorienting them and causing significant damage Biotic power: Warp - shreds the target apart, keeping them from regenerating shields and health while simultaneously lowering their armor and increasing their damage taken; deals increasing damage over time Biotic power: Barrier - a high gravity mass effect field, strengthening the biotic's shields and absorbing non-physical damage
On top of Wrex's biotic skill, he is also incredibly profficient with guns as well as heavy armor. Weighing approximately one ton while fully geared, Krogan are one of the few races that have the stamina to wear and be proficient in heavy armor. This gives them a shield boost and tactical advantage, and makes it easier to rush into combat and fight in close range.
As a Krogan, he prefers close-ranged combat, unlike the infiltrator class, who fight from behind the lines. As Krogans fight to satisfy their "blood rage," Wrex prefers close-combat melee and short range weapons like assault rifles and shotguns that deal high levels of damage output. He is not afraid of rushing into enemy lines headlong to headbutt an enemy or melee them as well, though he does so with caution. Death is not usually an issue, as he is expertly trained in the art of killing and in tactical battle. He is a shrewd soldier and someone you don't want on your bad side.
POSSESSIONS:
Wrex's current possessions include:Assault Rifle Heavy Krogan Armor Shotgun Small amount of rations (Krogan Friendly - Human Not) His badass self
Considering his worth and status, it can be assumed Wrex is toting armor and weapons similar to end-tier from Mass Effect. Though he's played a non-combat role in both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, he isn't without armor and a good shotgun. Old habits die hard.

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:[ VIDEO ]
[ The video feed opens up on a wide shot of Wrex's face, eyes narrowed but features stoic. Whether the look is contemplative or accusing is hard to tell, as Krogan aren't the easiest to read. His jaw shifts from side to side briefly, before he speaks: ]
I figure four days of watching you humans flounder around was enough to get some answers. [ A grunt and a twist of the lips - a laugh. ] Not the ones I was looking for.
I'm not gonna waste time on introductions or asking for a way off this rock. The way I hear it, not many have had any luck in that department.
[ He has things he should be taking care of back on Tuchanka. Inconvenience is an understatement, but he doesn't lack in survival. Seems like fights had a way of finding him; but they were usually the best kind. He gives another snort before he cuts the feed just as abruptly as he began it. ]
THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:[ memory: his face-off against Aleena, a fellow merc and target, pre-Mass Effect. ]
"Warning. Life support failing," blared the space station's loudspeaker for perhaps the seventh time in the last three minutes. However many it was, he wasn't keeping track. Wrex was crouched on the ground, back against a supporting pillar feet away from the station's medbay, locked and sealed, target inside. Bodies littered the floor around him, some leaned up against the wall, clutching day old wounds, the others face down on the floor. All of them were stripped, weapons and ammunition gone.
Around his feet were the casings from bullets, empty magazines, and shotgun shells. His hand gripped the base of an old, useless sawed off shotgun, finger on the trigger, but he had nothing to fire at. The last living person on the station, other than himself, was holed up in the medbay, patching herself up, waiting for him to slip, but he wouldn't give her the satisfaction. He had her cornered and there was no way in hell he was letting her go.
He almost laughed, but the audible laughter had died a day and a half ago when it almost got him shot in the arm. Instead, his lips turned up in a smirk as his finger squeezed the trigger, but didn't pull it. He had to hand it to Aleena, she was not only a fighter, but a resourceful one at that. (Not that it was a surprise, he knew that much.)
His head turned when he heard movement behind the sealed doors of the medbay, the last bastion left on the space station. Everything else had been blown apart, it was a wonder the damn thing was still standing. But he had her. After three days of chasing each other around the station, he had her.
"Warning. Life support fai--" The loudspeaker cut off, sound dimming to a buzz as the station's lighting failed. It was black for only a few moments before they hesitantly returned, flickering back to life and illuminating the room. The back up generator wasn't going to last for much longer, but when the lights started blaring red, he knew something was wrong.
"Warning. Core in critical condition."
He gritted his teeth and cursed. If it was a matter of life and death, there was no way he was going down with the ship. With one passing glance back to the medical station, he pushed off from the support beam and leaped off the railing toward the hull of the ship below. He took off running when he hit the ground, hand grasping the barrel of the stolen shotgun, as he headed back toward his ship, pushing debris and broken beams out of his way. He felt the ground rumble underneath his feet as he forced his way through the airlock and onto his ship.
As he pulled away from the space station, he looked back in time just to see it explode. In the deep of space, the explosion didn't make a sound, but the explosion was big enough to blow the whole thing to pieces. The thing had barely been standing by the third day of their stand-off, but with an explosion that big, not even rubble was left.
He leaned back with a grunt and a sigh as he set course for the Citadel. Credits were credits, but it was always a pity to have to finish someone who was much as a fighter as Aleena was. He wouldn't call her a friend, and he sure as hell wouldn't call her an "ally," but she was a merc, and a damn good one at that.
Just as he was about to relax for the remainder of his journey back to collect his pay, a light flashed on his comm channel and he patched it through. The screen flickered to life and there she was, smirking down at him and very much alive. "Better luck next time," she said before the feed cut.
He was quiet only for a moment before he leaned back and let out a throaty laughs. He shook his head and couldn't help but smile as his focused returned to the journey back. "Figures she wouldn't go down easy."
